Our Statement of Faith for Christian Fellowship Church

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers with our Lord Jesus Christ and that all believers are members of His body, the Church. {Philippians 2: 1-4} We believe that we were created in the image of God but separated from God by disobedience and sin. Without Jesus we cannot have a relationship with God. {Genesis 1:26, 1 Timothy 2:5}

We believe that the entirety of the Holy Bible is inspired be the word of God the Father and given to us through the Holy Spirit. We believe it is the Living Word, trustworthy and true, without error, which leads and guides us through all aspects of our lives; spiritual, physical, emotional, and literal and does not return void to anyone who hears and believes it. {Isaiah 55:11} We believe it is the complete truth on which we can put our faith and build our foundation for life. {2 Timothy 3:16-17}

We believe there is only one God who eternally exists in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. {1 Peter 1:2} We believe He spoke creation into existence and He is ruler of the universe. {Genesis 1:1} We believe He is All Knowing, Holy, Just, True, Righteous, Perfect and He is Love. {1 John 4:16, Revelation 19:6} We believe it is His desire to reach out to the poor, oppressed, widowed or orphaned and to heal the broken-hearted. {Isaiah 68:5-6}

We believe that Jesus Christ is our Head and Cornerstone and is the true Savior who was before the foundation of the world, born by a virgin birth as a man, lived a sinless human life and performed countless miracles in His 33 years on earth. He offered Himself as perfect sacrifice and was crucified, bled and died for all the sins of the world. We believe He paid for all sin completely, and that He sits at the right hand of the Father making intercession through the power of prayer for each of us that know and believe in Him. {Matthew 1:23-25, John 1:1-14, John 14: 10-15, Hebrews 4: 14, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4} We believe Jesus will return and take all those who accepted Him as Savior to be with Him for eternity. { Acts 1:11, Hebrews 9:28}

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person in the trinity and has existed from the beginning of time and is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, equipping us for service and guiding followers of Jesus in all areas of life to do what is right daily and glorify God. {John 16:7-15, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 2:12-14} We believe that baptism of the Holy Spirit is a gift from God to empower the believe to grow in the character of Christ and live daily in God’s will. {Matthew 3:11, Acts 2:4}

We believe we were created to exist forever and will either exist in eternal separation or eternal union with God through forgiveness and salvation. In eternal life we can have a personal relationship with God through salvation, which is God’s free gift and not a result of what we do. We believe that salvation is only found in the accomplished work of Jesus. By admitting our sins, believing in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ and accepting Him as Lord, we can spend eternity with God. We believe that rejecting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior will lead to eternal suffering in hell. {Matthew 25:31-46, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14} The Bible describes hell as a real place of suffering and permanent separation from God for those who die without accepting Christ. God’s desire is that no one would be separated from Him which is why he sent Jesus to earth. {John 3: 15-21, Revelation 20:10-15}

We believe in water baptism, taught and demonstrated by Jesus, as a way for believers to relate with the death, burial and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. {Matthew 3: 13-17, Romans 6:4} Although baptism is not required for salvation it is a biblical command and a public declaration, that demonstrates our love and obedience to Christ and, that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior. {Colossians 2:12, Acts 2: 41, Matthew 28: 19-20}

We believe that God created all human beings in His image, to be like Him in character and the supreme object of God’s creation. Therefore, we believe that human life is sacred from conception to its natural end. We believe we must honor the physical and spiritual needs of all people as following Christ’s example. {Psalms 139:13, Galatians 6:10, Isaiah 49:1, Jeremiah 1:5}

We believe marriage is an ordinance of God instituted by Him, exclusively as the union between one man and one woman for life, and it is the foundation of the family and basic structure of human society. {Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:5-6, Romans 1:25-27}

We believe communion, or the Lord’s supper, is given to believers by Jesus Christ to remember the covenant between us, and symbolize His sacrifice for us. The bread and juice are symbols of Christ’s broken body and shed blood. It is not a means of salvation but a sign of faith in the work of the cross. {Matthew 26: 26-30, Luke 22:19-20, 1 Corinthians 11-23-29}

We believe God gives believers spiritual gifts, which are for strengthening God’s people and proof of His existence and power, to unbelievers. These gifts are still relevant today. We believe these include divine healing including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual restoration. {1 Corinthians 12:4-11, Matthew 10:1}
